Vietnamese goods enhance their position
On the morning of November 12, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Industry and Trade organized the Gala Program to celebrate 15 years of the Industry and Trade sector implementing the Campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" launched by the Politburo. Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long and Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien attended the program.
The campaign “Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods” was launched in 2009. At that time, a segment of Vietnamese consumers preferred foreign goods; manufacturing industries faced many difficulties.
Following the direction of the Party and the State, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has coordinated with departments, ministries, branches and localities to synchronously implement the Campaign. It focuses on 5 key contents: Propagating the policies of the Party and the Government to implement the Campaign; reviewing policies to support production and business enterprises; honoring typical enterprises, voting for quality products; strengthening market inspection and control; enhancing the responsibility of agencies and organizations in protecting the rights of consumers.

Up to now, the trade deficit has decreased, moving towards continuous trade surplus since 2016; Vietnamese goods in distribution channels account for a fairly high proportion, over 80% in supermarkets; from 60% or more in traditional retail channels. Gradually forming strong enough economic groups, leading industrial sub-sectors.
According to a survey by the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry, in 2023, 63.3% of FDI enterprises will use input goods and services from Vietnamese enterprises, much higher than the 12.4% in 2010...

Speaking at the program, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien commented: The campaign has attracted special attention from the business community, domestic consumers and overseas Vietnamese, contributing to effectively exploiting the domestic market, strengthening endogenous capacity, improving competitiveness, promoting economic growth, maintaining macroeconomic stability, controlling inflation, ensuring major balances of the economy. In particular, the campaign has turned the domestic market into a solid "defense line", "support" and one of the important driving forces of economic growth.

Lessons learned need to be studied and summarized to create stronger breakthroughs in implementing the campaign, further improving the quality and reputation of Vietnamese goods in domestic and foreign markets, especially markets with which Vietnam has signed FTAs...
At the event, authorities, experts, businesses and localities shared their experiences in three discussion sessions, with the themes "Pride in Vietnamese goods - Journey of aspiration"; "Mission of Vietnamese goods in the era of national growth"; "Vietnamese goods - The story of a thousand-year-old national strength".
