Vietnamese Businesses Need to Proactively Seize Opportunities to Recover Exports of Fashion, Furniture, and Household Goods
Experts at the seminar "Promoting export recovery to key markets - Opportunities to bring Vietnamese fashion, furniture, and household goods into the international distribution system" said that Vietnamese businesses need to improve their competitiveness and proactively approach the market to take advantage of positive signals from global consumer demand.
The event, jointly organized by the European-American Market Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) and the Investment and Trade Promotion Center of Ho Chi Minh City (ITPC) on June 6th, attracted the attention of many businesses and experts.
Mr. Ta Hoang Linh, Director General of the European-American Market Department, said that the export turnover of Vietnamese fashion, furniture, and household goods has achieved impressive growth in recent years, affirming its solid position in the international market.
However, Mr. Linh also noted the challenges from the increasingly high requirements of the export market, especially regarding greening the production chain, sustainable development criteria, and circular production. Vietnamese businesses need to proactively adapt to this trend to maintain growth momentum and penetrate deeper into global distribution systems.
Sharing the same view, Mr. Tran Phu Lu, Director of ITPC, said that businesses need to reshape their production processes, invest in digital transformation, and innovate technology to optimize quality and costs. Close cooperation with suppliers to ensure that raw materials and products are produced and transported sustainably is also an important factor.
Experts also recommend that businesses proactively research and develop new products and diversify designs to suit consumer tastes. Building a strong brand and an effective market approach strategy are also key factors in competing with major brands in the world.
Mr. Tran Nhu Tung, Vice President of the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association, shared about the pressure to switch to green production for textile and garment enterprises. International partners now require factories to use clean energy and have specific commitments and actions for sustainable production.
Ms. Duong Thi Minh Tue, Vice President of the Handicraft and Wood Industry Association of Ho Chi Minh City, said that the export of wood and wood products is recovering positively. To support businesses, the wood industry is focusing on organizing trade promotion programs and encouraging businesses to participate in international exhibitions and fairs to grasp market trends.
