Vietnam International Sourcing Expo 2025: A Comprehensive Bridge for Export Promotion, FTA Utilisation and Elevating Viet Nam’s Global Image

18/08/2025

From 4 to 6 September 2025, the Vietnam International Sourcing Expo 2025 will take place in Ho Chi Minh City, marking one of the year’s most important events for trade promotion and international integration. According to the Department of Foreign Market Development (Ministry of Industry and Trade), as of 23 August, more than 300 buying delegations from over 60 countries and territories had confirmed their attendance—an unprecedented level of international interest in the Vietnamese market and supply capacity.

Deep Engagement of Viet Nam’s Trade Office Network – A Defining Distinction

Ta Hoang Linh, Director General of the Department of Foreign Market Development, emphasised that what differentiates the Vietnam International Sourcing Expo 2025 from traditional trade fairs is the central role of Viet Nam’s Trade Offices across more than 60 countries and territories. These offices directly identify, screen and invite buyers with genuine demand for Vietnamese products, ensuring efficient, targeted and market-specific business matching.

This year’s event coincides with the 80th anniversary of Viet Nam’s National Day (2 September), giving it special significance—not only as a trade promotion initiative but also as an opportunity to showcase Viet Nam’s image, culture and people. Many Trade Offices view VIS 2025 as a platform to present a message of a dynamic, deeply integrated Viet Nam that is increasingly influential within global supply chains.

Commercial Counsellor Phung Van Thanh (Viet Nam Trade Office in the Philippines) noted that 105 Philippine business representatives had registered for VIS 2025—the highest number to date—reflecting strong interest in Vietnamese goods. He added that the event is not only about business matching but also an opportunity to introduce Viet Nam’s culture, cuisine and economic achievements to international partners.

In Mexico, the atmosphere of National Day celebrations is also running high. According to Commercial Counsellor Luu Van Khang, he will lead a Mexican delegation to visit Viet Nam at “the most beautiful time of the year,” creating a dual opportunity for business connection and national image promotion.

Helping Enterprises Leverage FTAs More Effectively

A Core Mechanism for Maximising Benefits Across 17 FTAs

The Vietnam International Sourcing Expo 2025 is regarded as a key mechanism to help Vietnamese businesses implement and exploit the benefits of 17 free trade agreements, including major new-generation FTAs such as CPTPP and EVFTA. With Viet Nam targeting GDP growth of 8.3–8.5% in 2025, large-scale supply–demand connectivity initiatives are critical for supporting exports.

VIS 2025 will bring together leading global distributors and retailers including Uniqlo, AEON (Japan), H&M, IKEA (Sweden), Walmart, Amazon (USA), Coppel (Mexico), Central Group (Thailand), LuLu Group (UAE) and others. These partners have significant sourcing demand across apparel, footwear, agriculture, seafood, furniture, processed foods and supporting–industry products.

At the same time, tariff preferences under FTAs are opening major opportunities:

  • CPTPP: Tariff reductions for textiles, footwear, seafood and agricultural goods entering Canada, Mexico and Chile.

  • EVFTA: Many agricultural and processed food products exported to the EU already enjoy zero tariffs.

VIS 2025 will support enterprises by clarifying technical standards, traceability, food safety and environmental requirements through a series of specialised conferences and seminars.

Unprecedented International Scale

Hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, the Vietnam International Sourcing Expo 2025 will be a major focal point for global trade and tourism in September. Combined with the Ho Chi Minh City Export Forum and the ITE HCMC 2025 International Travel Expo, the event forms one of Asia’s most comprehensive integrated programmes.

More than 300 buying delegations from the United States, EU, Japan, South Korea, the Middle East, ASEAN, Latin America, Eastern Europe, Central Asia and South Asia will arrive in Viet Nam to source products.

At 500 booths from over 400 Vietnamese enterprises, buyers will explore approximately 12,000 products, grouped into four key sectors:

  1. Food & beverages

  2. Home and lifestyle – interior/exterior and household goods

  3. Supporting industries and export production supplies

  4. Lifestyle products such as apparel, footwear and accessories

Thousands of direct B2B meetings will take place at the exhibition, facilitated by the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s digital matchmaking platform. Clear-demand business pairs will receive pre-arranged meeting schedules to support negotiation, contract signing and long-term cooperation.

In parallel, VIS 2025 will also serve as a tourism promotion opportunity, offering international delegates cultural experiences and visits to Ho Chi Minh City and surrounding destinations—enhancing synergies between trade and tourism.

A Gateway for Deeper Integration into Global Supply Chains

The 2025 edition reflects Viet Nam’s growing appeal as both a supply source and manufacturing hub for international markets. The geographical diversity of participating buying delegations enables Vietnamese businesses to expand into new markets, reduce dependence on a limited set of regions and maximise the advantages of modern FTAs.

With its scale, strategic preparation and strong participation from global buyers, the Vietnam International Sourcing Expo 2025 is expected to become a launchpad for Vietnamese enterprises to enter global distribution systems, expand exports and elevate Viet Nam’s national brand amid deepening international integration.
