Export Forum 2024: Elevating Vietnamese Businesses in the Global Supply Chain

28/10/2024

To support the deep integration of Vietnamese businesses into the world economy, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is collaborating with the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to organize the Export Forum 2024 with the theme "Connecting the International Goods Supply Chain."

Taking place concurrently with the Viet Nam International Sourcing 2024 exhibition from June 6th to 8th in Ho Chi Minh City, the event brings together many leading global retail groups such as Central Retail, Aeon, Walmart, Costco, Decathlon, Amazon, and Coppel.

This is a golden opportunity for Vietnamese businesses to directly meet international importers and distribution channels, thereby expanding their consumer markets. At the same time, businesses can introduce their products to international buyers and seek potential partners.

The forum is also a place for businesses to update information on the market, consumer trends, and changes in global consumer shopping habits. By learning from experience and enhancing their competitiveness, Vietnamese businesses will have more opportunities to participate more deeply in international production and supply chains.

The event features the participation of many international retail giants. Mr. Aly Ansari, General Director of Walmart Vietnam, emphasized that Vietnam is one of Walmart's most important sourcing markets in Asia. The group wishes to expand cooperation and seek diverse sources of goods from Vietnam, including toys and food.

Mr. Akiyama Naoki, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Uniqlo Vietnam, said that Vietnam plays an important role in Uniqlo's value chain. More than 60% of Uniqlo's products in Vietnam are produced domestically, and this rate is expected to continue to increase.

According to Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang, Vietnam's exports in the first 5 months of 2024 reached 156.5 billion USD, an increase of 15% over the same period last year. New-generation FTAs such as CPTPP, EVFTA, and UKVFTA have created leverage for Vietnam's exports.

The Export Forum 2024 contributes to promoting connections between Vietnamese businesses and international distributors and importers, supporting Vietnamese businesses in enhancing their competitiveness and deeply integrating into the global economy.
