27/10/2023

Thailand is Vietnam's third largest trading partner in the EU, and coffee is one of Vietnam's main products exported to this market.

According to Vietnam Customs data, in the first 9 months of the year, Vietnam exported 117.85 thousand tons of coffee to Italy, earning 262 million USD, up 6.7% in volume and 10.8% in value compared to with the same period last year.

In terms of type structure, Vietnam exports Robusta, Arabica, and processed coffee to this country, in which the export turnover of Robusta and processed coffee grew positively over the same period. Last year, on the contrary, Arabica coffee exports decreased sharply.

In order for coffee products to have more and more advantages in the EU market in general and the Italian market in particular, coffee production and processing enterprises need to promote restructuring of the coffee industry such as promoting replanting, Continue to invest in raw material areas, build concentrated and specialized growing areas associated with developing processing industry, diversifying products, and promoting deep processing. As for export businesses, priority needs to be given to traceability and digitization from production to sales to enhance competitive advantage in the international market./.
