Ho Chi Minh City hosts policy dialogue on export market diversification

13/08/2025

On the afternoon of August 1, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) convened a policy dialogue in Ho Chi Minh City titled “Diversifying Export Markets”, aiming to exchange viewpoints and identify practical solutions to enhance the effectiveness of trade promotion and business-to-business (B2B) connectivity.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Tạ Hoàng Linh, Director General of the Department of Foreign Market Development (MOIT), emphasized that the global economy has experienced unprecedented volatility in recent years, exerting considerable pressure on the production and business activities of Vietnamese enterprises. In this context, Viet Nam has been consistently implementing a strategy to diversify export markets, product structures, and distribution channels in order to safeguard its competitive position and sustain growth in international trade.

According to the Department of Foreign Market Development, one of the initiatives that has delivered notably positive results in assisting Vietnamese enterprises to access new markets is the annual series “Viet Nam International Sourcing – Connecting Global Supply Chains”, held in conjunction with the Export Forum and co-organized by MOIT and the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee since 2023. The platform has effectively strengthened links between Vietnamese suppliers and international buyers, contributing to expanding export opportunities.

In 2025, MOIT continues to elevate the event series by integrating it with the Ho Chi Minh City International Travel Expo (ITE HCMC), thereby creating a unique multi-sector promotion platform that generates synergies between trade, industry, and tourism. Scheduled for 4–6 September at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC), the event is expected to serve as a major hub for domestic and international business communities.

Through the exhibition, international buying delegations will have the opportunity to explore over 12,000 products showcased at 500 booths by more than 400 Vietnamese enterprises, spanning four key product groups:

  • Agricultural produce, processed foods, and beverages;

  • Consumer industrial goods, including textiles, footwear, furniture, packaging, and related items;

  • Supporting industries;

  • Personal electronic devices and components.

In addition, participating enterprises will be able to engage in pre-arranged B2B meetings with global retail corporations and international buyers, based on registration through the official event website. This mechanism ensures efficient scheduling and maximizes opportunities for targeted business engagement.

With its expanded scale and increasing interest from global partners, the 2025 event series is expected to attract around 10,000 visitors, reinforcing Viet Nam’s position as a reliable and competitive supplier in global value chains while opening new avenues for enterprises to strengthen international cooperation.
