Ho Chi Minh City Strengthens Trade and Tourism Connectivity Between Vietnam and Global Markets

07/10/2025

On April 11 in Hanoi, on the sidelines of the Vietnam International Travel Mart – VITM Hanoi 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism and the Ministry of Industry and Trade jointly held a press conference to introduce the event series “International Goods Supply Chain Connectivity – Viet Nam International Sourcing & Ho Chi Minh City Export Forum 2025,” in conjunction with the Ho Chi Minh City International Travel Expo 2025 (ITE HCMC 2025). The series is scheduled to take place from 4 to 6 September 2025 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC).

At the press conference, representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade underlined that the global economy has undergone unprecedented disruptions in recent years—from major power trade tensions and supply chain interruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, to geopolitical conflicts and the rising trend of market protectionism. These developments have significantly affected production, business operations, and export activities of Vietnamese enterprises. In response, Vietnam has actively pursued market diversification, product diversification, and broader distribution channels to enhance economic resilience and maintain export growth.

The representative of the Foreign Market Development Department highlighted that the Viet Nam International Sourcing and Export Forum, organized annually since 2023, has become an important platform to broaden connections between Vietnamese exporters and international buyers. In 2025, with the cooperation of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, the event is expected to expand significantly in scale and further strengthen trade and tourism linkages between Vietnam and global partners.

The 2025 event series is organized to implement the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 1415/QĐ-TTg dated 14 November 2022 approving the Scheme “Promoting Vietnamese Enterprises’ Direct Participation in Overseas Distribution Networks by 2030.” The Ministry of Industry and Trade has assigned the Foreign Market Development Department to lead implementation, while the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee designated the Investment and Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) to coordinate with relevant agencies.

Viet Nam International Sourcing 2025 is expected to attract over 300 buyer delegations from approximately 60 countries and territories. Through a large-scale exhibition featuring 500 booths and more than 400 Vietnamese enterprises, international buyers will have the opportunity to explore over 12,000 products across four key sectors: agricultural products, food and beverages; consumer industrial goods such as textiles, footwear, wooden furniture; packaging and home interiors; and supporting industries, including personal electronic devices.

The organizers plan to facilitate around 3,000 direct business-matching (B2B) sessions between Vietnamese companies and leading global distribution networks. Alongside these activities, a series of conferences and thematic workshops will provide market insights, update regulatory changes, and analyze consumption trends in key export destinations.

International buyer delegations this year will not only come from traditional markets such as the United States, the European Union, Japan, and the Republic of Korea, but will also expand to fast-growing regions including the Middle East, Latin America, Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and South Asia. This geographic diversification enables Vietnamese enterprises to access new markets, reduce dependency risks, and leverage tariff advantages from Vietnam’s free trade agreements.

A significant highlight of the 2025 edition is the combination of trade promotion and tourism promotion activities. While Viet Nam International Sourcing 2025 focuses on connecting exporters with global procurement channels, ITE HCMC 2025—recognized as “Asia’s Best Trade Show” at the 2024 World MICE Awards—continues to serve as a major platform that elevates the visibility of Vietnam’s tourism sector worldwide. As the only tourism fair in Vietnam offering an international Hosted Buyer Program, ITE HCMC plays an essential role in attracting foreign tourists to the country.

This comprehensive linkage creates a multi-sector event series with strong synergistic value, enabling Vietnamese enterprises not only to promote their products but also to showcase cultural and tourism offerings, thereby strengthening the country’s international image and maximizing cooperation opportunities.

In addition to activities at the venue, the organizers will arrange field trips for international buyer delegations to visit factories, production zones, and raw-material areas, combined with cultural and sightseeing experiences in localities. These practical activities aim to enhance transparency, build trust, and foster greater potential for successful business agreements.

Viet Nam International Sourcing 2025 is expected to remain a reputable business rendezvous for domestic and international enterprises. The organizers express confidence that the event will generate new commercial partnerships, expand market access, boost export performance, and further support Vietnamese products in reaching global markets.
