China has been Vietnam's largest trading partner for 20 consecutive years. Vietnam is also China's largest trading partner in ASEAN, China's 6th largest trading partner in 2022. In 2022, the total Two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and China reached over 175.57 billion USD, an increase of 9.1% compared to 2022; Of which Vietnam's exports reached 57.7 billion USD, an increase of 3.2% and imports reached 117.8 billion USD, an increase of 12.4%. In the trade balance between the two countries, Vietnam is a trade deficit country. In the first 9 months of 2023 alone, total trade exchange between the two countries reached more than 122 billion USD, of which Vietnam's exports reached 42.8 billion USD and imports reached 91.6 billion USD.

In the structure of exports from Vietnam to China, rice products have always grown very well in recent years, accounting for nearly 1/5 of China's total rice imports. In 2022, Vietnam's rice exports to China will reach a volume of 834.2 thousand tons, worth 423.2 million USD. By the end of the first 9 months of 2023, China has also imported nearly 869 thousand tons of rice from Vietnam, an increase of 41.1% over the same period in 2022.

Vietnam has the ability to supply popular rice lines in China (such as high-quality fragrant rice, ST rice, sticky rice, etc.) and has established long-term traditional customer relationships. Vietnam's rice export businesses always recognize that China is an important market, ranking 2nd among Vietnam's rice import markets, thereby constantly making efforts to improve product quality and specifications. products, meet regulations well and serve the needs and tastes of Chinese consumers well.

To consolidate and develop trade relations between the two countries in general and Vietnam - China rice trade in particular, especially for the Northern China market area, the Working Group proposed and achieved agreement. Support from state management agencies, associations and agricultural and food businesses, especially Chinese rice businesses, on strengthening trade support, establishing information exchange channels, and timely coordination. in resolving problems between businesses of the two countries, continuing to promote Vietnam's rice export activities to China in the coming time; Consider signing memorandums of understanding on promoting exports and trade promotion between the two countries; and support bringing Vietnamese rice products deeply into the traditional retail market and e-commerce channels of Vietnam. China in the coming time will contribute to maintaining market share and increasing Vietnam's rice export turnover to China, realizing the goals set out in Vietnam's Rice Export Market Development Strategy up to 2019. 2030 has been approved by the Government in Decision No. 583/QD-TTg dated May 26, 2023./.
