The two Ministers agreed to evaluate based on the solid foundation of relations that the two countries have established in recent years, including the establishment of comprehensive partnership in 2017 to the adoption of the CPTPP Agreement signed in 2017. In 2018, bilateral economic and trade relations between Vietnam and Canada have developed very positively and will continue to be an important driving force, playing a pioneering role in promoting common prosperity between the two countries.

The two Ministers affirmed that the management agencies of the two countries in general, and between the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam (MOIT) and the Ministry of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development of Canada in particular, need to have many activities. Cooperate more deeply to effectively deploy business support activities, promote investment and export production; At the same time, it is necessary to establish development goals commensurate with the comprehensive partnership for the upcoming journey.
Minister Nguyen Hong Dien appreciated the fact that Canada has recognized Vietnam as a market economy since 2016. However, the Minister suggested that Canada continue to maintain trade defense investigations objectively, fairness and transparency; Strengthen the implementation of consultation and early warning mechanisms between the two countries in trade defense cases.
Discussing the implementation of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), Minister Nguyen Hong Dien highly appreciated Canada's role as the chair of the CPTPP in 2024. Two The Minister agreed that the United Kingdom became the 12th signing member of the Agreement, along with 6 new membership applications, proving that CPTPP is not only a dynamic free trade agreement, maintaining its position increasingly important in global trade, but also creates a spillover effect, attracting the interest of many other economies around the world to join. Therefore, CPTPP member countries need to discuss and agree on the assessment and consideration of admitting new members on the basis of compliance with the high standards of the Agreement, bringing real benefits to people and communities. business community of member countries.

The two Ministers agreed that the two Agencies need to constantly cultivate cooperative relations, enhance discussions and deepen cooperation in areas where the two countries have common interests such as human resource training, energy conversion, digital economy, green production, etc./.
