Vietnam’s textile and garment exports to its largest export destination USA have dropped significantly by 8.29 per cent to US $ 11.38 billion in January-October ’20 period.

Vietnam’s textile and garment exports to its largest export destination USA have dropped significantly by 8.29 per cent to US $ 11.38 billion in January-October ’20 period.

Of total values, garments contributed US $ 10.71 billion (down 8.14 per cent), while the share of textiles was US $ 670.72 million (down 10.62 per cent).

Cotton apparels comprised US $ 4.39 billion (down 8.04 per cent), while MMF apparels constituted US $ 6.04 billion (down 8.29 per cent) from Vietnam to USA in the mentioned period.

What’s interesting is just 1.80 per cent drop in the unit prices of the shipped garments from Vietnam to USA at a time when USA witnessed 7.38 per cent decline in its overall shipment’s unit prices.

On the other hand, drop in unit prices of shipped garments from Bangladesh and India was 4.39 per cent and 5.59 per cent, respectively.

This marginal decline in the Vietnam’s unit prices resonates the fact that buyers are not negotiating with Vietnam’s factories on price front for the quality premium products as much as they are doing with factories in China, Bangladesh and India.
