Vietnam attends the 5th China International Import Expo

At the invitation of the Ministry of Commerce of China, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai, on behalf of Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade, attended the virtual Opening Ceremony of the 5th China International Import Expo (CIIE 2022) taking place from November 5 to 10, 2022 and the Hongqiao International Economic Forum 2022 on November 4, 2022 in Shanghai, China.

At the invitation of the Ministry of Commerce of China, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai, on behalf of Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade, attended the virtual Opening Ceremony of the 5th China International Import Expo (CIIE 2022) taking place from November 5 to 10, 2022 and the Hongqiao International Economic Forum 2022 on November 4, 2022 in Shanghai, China.
 

The CIIE Expo is an important trade promotion event hosted by the Chinese Government every year since 2018, focusing on importers from all over China. Participating in this year's CIIE, there are thousands of businesses from 145 countries and territories, including 248 companies in the top 500 companies in the world. The signed contract value at the previous four Expos was estimated at more than 270 billion USD.

This year, Vietnam was invited to participate in the organization of "Vietnam National Pavilion" on the online platform of the Organizing Committee of CIIE 2022, with the goal of promoting the image of the country, culture, tourism, and typical economic achievements of Vietnam to a large number of Chinese and international visitors.

In addition, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency) hosted a Vietnamese business delegation to participate in CIIE 2022 under the model of "the remote exhibition" with a scale of 20 booths, focusing on some sectors such as agriculture - aquatic products, beverages, processed foods. This is an exhibition model combining digital platform with the traditional Expo, which is considered an appropriate and effective trade promotion to support businesses to maintain and develop export activities in the context of the negative impact of the Covid-19 epidemic.

Vietnam is one of 10 countries invited by the Organizing Committee of CIIE to organize a virtual national pavilion on a digital platform. Vietnam's online national pavilion has about 100 businesses participating in displaying, introducing products, promoting the image of Vietnamese brands as well as Vietnam's  key export products to China.

According to Mr. Vu Tien Hung, Head of Vietnam Trade Promotion Office in Hangzhou (China), Vietnamese enterprises participating in this Expo were supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam in organizing the event, transporting product samples to the Expo, etc.

Mr. Vu Tien Hung added that, among Vietnamese products being displayed in CIIE Expo this year, there are some outstanding products such as milk and yogurt of TH True milk Group; soy milk products, yogurt from plants of Quang Ngai Sugar Company; coconut products of AVC company. These new products have received great attention from visitors to the Expo.

In addition, in order to meet the needs of Vietnamese businesses in export activities and to source raw materials for production activities in the context of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has closely cooperated with the Organizing Committee to support Vietnamese businesses to attend virtual business matchmaking sessions on specific sectors, export markets in the framework of CIIE 2022.
