The Ministry of Industry and Trade has just announced a series of events connecting the international goods supply chain - Vietnam International Sourcing 2023.

The series of events co-hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in coordination with Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, took place from September 13 to 15 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC), Ho Chi Minh City.

The event took place in the context that in recent years, Vietnam has been transforming strongly to become a major global manufacturing center with the ability to supply the world market with many diverse products at competitive prices. Painting, high quality.

Especially after the Covid-19 pandemic and recent geopolitical instability, many corporations, retail and wholesale distribution channels are promoting diversification strategies to ensure sustainable supply. And they have chosen Vietnam as a strategic location in this supply chain.

Mr. Ta Hoang Linh, Director of the European - American Market Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade said: The Ministry of Industry and Trade always wants to help Vietnamese businesses take advantage of the opportunity to become an important link in the global supply chain.

Therefore, this event will have the participation of many large corporations, such as Amazon, Boeing, AES, especially Walmart Group - a giant hypermarket chain in the world, their senior directors will came to Vietnam this time and had a meeting with leaders of the Government, ministries and branches with the desire to create a new purchasing channel.

Meanwhile, Mr. Tran Phu Lu, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Trade Promotion Center, said that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee highly appreciates the Vietnam International Sourcing 2023 program for the purpose of promoting connections between countries. distribution channels, foreign importers and domestic manufacturing and exporting enterprises.

“This is a trade promotion activity with practical significance to support the Vietnamese business community with the opportunity to participate more deeply in the international supply chain of goods, gradually expanding the production chain - Consuming products, goods and services with domestic and foreign partners, promoting Vietnamese products with quality and reputable brands, especially in the context of export market decline in the first months 2023,” Mr. Lu said.

Also according to Mr. Lu, in the context of general economic difficulties, the city's import-export activities also decreased. In the first 8 months of the year, the city's total import-export turnover decreased by over 20% over the same period, the export segment decreased by 15.3%.

Therefore, this series of events is expected by the city to support businesses in expanding export markets.

“This event brings together a large number of distributors from major markets. Through understanding the business's needs, they are very excited. We expect the program not only to take place this year but to be maintained and expanded in the following years," Mr. Lu shared.
